A few helpful details that will elevate your yoga and/or fitness experience:
Sign in at the front desk before proceeding to lockers/studio.
Please remove your shoes when entering the studio.
No personal belongings are permitted in the studio (this includes bags, purses, keys, and especially cell phones) - Lockers are provided for your personal items. Any valuable items we advise you to leave at home or in the trunk of your car.
The class room in general is a cell-phone free zone. At the very least, please make sure it is on silent in your locker while you are in class.
Please refrain from using heavy scents or perfumes - many people are sensitive or allergic.
Once the class starts, please avoid going in and out of class. Stay till the end of class.
+ WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FOR MY FIRST CLASS?
Expect to SWEAT! Arrive 15 minutes early and let the front desk staff know that it's your first visit. A SHACK team member will help make sure you have everything you need for class. If you arrive later than 5 minutes before class start time, your spot may be given to someone on the waitlist.
+ WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO CLASS?
Any comfortable athletic wear will do. Leave your shoes and socks in the locker or lobby - no shoes in the studio.
+ ARE MATS AVAILABLE FOR RENT?
Yes, mats are for rent for $3. We have mats and hand towels for purchase in studio (stock and availability varies)..
+ HOW HOT IS THE STUDIO?
We are a warm heated studio. Infrared Heaters are set to specific temperatures depending on the class type. See Class Types tab at top menu.
+ WHY A HEATED STUDIO?
The heat allows for detoxification through sweat, opens tight areas of the body, and promotes circulatory health.
+ WHAT HAPPENS IF I ARRIVE LATE?
Life happens but our classes do begin on time. Doors are subject to being locked at the start of class. Please arrive 15 minutes early to check-in and set up.
Sometimes a SHACK team member may be available to check people in a couple minutes after class start time, but this is not guaranteed. If you haven’t arrived 2-5 minutes prior to class time your spot may be given to someone on the waitlist. Late arrivals are subject to the No Show penalty.
+ WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL A CLASS RESERVATION?
No problem. We ask that you cancel directly on the app or website at least 8 hours before class to avoid a late fee of $10 for unlimited members, or a loss of credit. Just click on your current reservation then click Cancel Reservation.
+ WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T SHOW UP FOR CLASS?
No shows will incur a fee of $15 for unlimited members, or a loss of credit. To avoid a penalty, be sure to cancel your reservation on the app or website.
+ WANT TO SWITCH TO A DIFFERENT CLASS?
Just pop into the app or website to easily cancel and make a new reservation any time, to cancel just click on your existing reservation then Cancel Reservation, then proceed to book your new class. If you need assistance email hi@theyogashack.com.
+ WHAT HAPPENS IF I'M ON A WAITLIST?
If a spot in the class becomes available more than 2 hours prior to class time and you are on the top of the waitlist, the system will automatically enroll you in the class. You will receive an email notifying you that you've been given a spot in class, and a text if you enrolled in text messaging.
Within 2 hours of class time if a spot becomes available it will be shown for anyone to book directly through the app or website - be sure to monitor if you want to grab a space within the 2 hour window before class. You’re of course also welcome to come to the studio to see if there are any other no shows, however we cannot guarantee that a spot will become available.
You can remove yourself from the waitlist by cancelling your reservation at any time, and should do so if you no longer plan to or are able to attend the class, otherwise you are subject to the 'no show' fee.
+ HOW DO I CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP?
All memberships are month-to-month and we ask for 14 day notice via email to cancel. Just send us a quick note at hi@theyogashack.com and we’ll get your membership cancelled. Cancelled memberships will still be available for use during the rest of the current cycle.
+ CAN I FREEZE MY MEMBERSHIP?
We do not offer a freeze option for our memberships, if you need to cancel just send us a quick note at hi@theyogashack.com and we’ll get your membership cancelled. Cancelled memberships will still be available for use during the rest of the current cycle.
+ WHEN DO MY CREDITS EXPIRE?
To check the expiry on your credits just pop in to the app or website under your account then click on Memberships & Credits to view your active memberships and credits and when they expire. When making a purchase you can view how long each credit pack or individual class / workshop credit will be good.
+ HOW DID WE GET OUR NAME?
In 2012, a passion project took root in downtown Sarasota—a tiny tin-walled space known as The Yoga Shack. This intimate, humble shack could only fit a handful of yogis at a time, practicing together in the warmth of the Florida air. As the community grew, so did the space, expanding to hold up to 20 people. But even that wasn’t enough.
Founder Courtenay envisioned something bigger—a place where movement, connection, and energy could truly thrive. The Yoga Shack evolved into SHACK yoga + fitness, relocating to our current space on Central Avenue in 2018. We expanded once again in 2023, opening a satellite location in Waterside Place at Lakewood Ranch, continuing our mission to bring movement and mindfulness to even more people.
From a tiny tin shack to a vibrant community—our name is a tribute to our roots and the journey that brought us here.
